Welcome to Saint Joseph Parish

As a community of Baptized Catholics, endowed by God with special gifts and nourished by the Eucharist, we at Saint Joseph Parish recognize our mission to call forth these gifts to help build the Body of Christ.

St. Joseph Parish Vision Statement

We are called as a community of believers to deepen our relationship with Christ. This relationship is fostered through our prayer life, and in our devotion to God’s presence in the sacraments. In serving our Parish community, we seek to give of ourselves, in our presence at Mass, in the sharing of the special gifts we have been given, and through our offerings for our church. We also seek to live out our faith, through our words, through our good actions, and through the graces we receive, as we become the people God has meant us to be, drawing closer to God and those he has put in our lives.

See the beauty of the daughter of Jerusalem, who ascended to Heaven like the rising sun at dawn.

Prayer for the Assumption of Mary

Almighty and everlasting God, You have taken up body and soul into the Heavenly glory the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of Your Son. Grant, we beseech You, that, ever intent upon heavenly things, we may be worthy to be partakers of her glory. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

God of power and might, wisdom and justice, through You authority is rightly administered, laws are enacted, and judgment is decreed. Assist with Your spirit of counsel and fortitude the President and other government leaders of these United States. May they always seek the ways of righteousness, justice, and mercy. Grant that they may be enabled by Your powerful protection to lead our Country with honesty and integrity. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord, we pray for the power to be gentle; the strength to be forgiving; the patience to be understanding; and the endurance to accept the consequences of holding to what we believe to be right. May we put our trust in the power of good to overcome evil and the power of love to overcome hatred. We pray for the vision to see and the faith to believe in a world emancipated from violence, a new world where fear shall no longer lead men to commit injustice, nor selfishness make them bring suffering to others. Help us to devote our whole life and thought and energy to the task of making peace, praying always for the inspiration and the power to fulfill the destiny for which we and all men were created. Amen.

Thank You, God, for little things that often come our way. The things we take for granted but don’t mention when we pray. The unexpected courtesy, the thoughtful, kindly deed, a hand reached out to help us in the time of sudden need. Oh make us more aware, dear God, of little daily graces that come to us with ‘sweet surprise’ from never-dreamed-of-places.

Father, the image of the Virgin is found in Your Church. Mary had a faith that Your Spirit prepared and a love that never knew sin, for You kept her sinless from the first moment of her conception. Trace in our actions the lines of her love, in our hearts her readiness of faith. Prepare once again a world for Your Son who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. –from Catholic Household Blessings and Prayers

Do not fear what may happen tomorrow. The same loving Father Who cares for you today will care for You tomorrow, and everyday. Either God will shield you from suffering, or God will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, then, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginings. -St. Frances DeSales

Catholic Schools are one of the great success stories in the Church. The combination of religious and moral values, strong academics, and a disciplined environment simply cannot be surpassed. Catholic Schools are a sacrifice. But the sacrifice is well worth it. –Most Rev. Frank J. Rodimer, J.C.D.

Baptism Sponsor and Godparent Guidelines
In accordance with Canon (Church) Law, at least one godparent who is of the Catholic faith, is required at Baptism.

Normally there are two and must be of different genders. The godparent(s) must be at least fourteen (14) years of age and must have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.

Each godparent is required to submit a certificate of eligibility from his/her own parish. The certificate must state that the sponsor is a Catholic in good standing, who attends Mass regularly, and, if married, is in a valid marriage recognized by the Catholic Church. An individual married civilly by a judge, or a mayor, or divorced and remarried without an annulment is not eligible to act as a godparent.

In the absence of a second godparent, a non-Catholic Christian (never a former Catholic) may serve as a Christian witness. A copy of his/her baptismal record must be submitted beforehand.

Please help us help you. We are only able to provide you with a sponsor certificate if you are an active, registered member of our Parish, attend Mass regularly, and meet all the guidelines. Please be sure to register if you have not already done so.

Are you registered in St. Joseph Parish? All Catholics should be registered in a Parish so that the Parish may know you and your family and so be able to serve you better.

Registration is your statement that you belong to a particular faith community where you are known, your faith is strengthened, and your relationship with God is nourished and given expression.

When you are registered, actively involved, and a Catholic in good standing, the Parish is able to provide you with testimonial certificates to be a sponsor for Baptism and/or Confirmation. Your registration information is strictly confidential and never in any way becomes a public record.

If you have not already registered in the Parish, please stop by the Parish Office and take the time to do so. Thank you.

Please call the parish office if you are interested in receiving any of the following Sacraments - Baptism, Pastoral Care of the Sick, Matrimony, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
