Welcome to Saint Joseph Parish

As a community of Baptized Catholics, endowed by God with special gifts and nourished by the Eucharist, we at Saint Joseph Parish recognize our mission to call forth these gifts to help build the Body of Christ.

St. Joseph Parish Vision Statement

We are called as a community of believers to deepen our relationship with Christ. This relationship is fostered through our prayer life, and in our devotion to God’s presence in the sacraments. In serving our Parish community, we seek to give of ourselves, in our presence at Mass, in the sharing of the special gifts we have been given, and through our offerings for our church. We also seek to live out our faith, through our words, through our good actions, and through the graces we receive, as we become the people God has meant us to be, drawing closer to God and those he has put in our lives.

FOR OUR GOVERNMENT

God of power and might, wisdom and justice, through You authority is rightly administered, laws are enacted, and judgment is decreed. Assist with Your spirit of counsel and fortitude the President and other government leaders of these United States. May they always seek the ways of righteousness, justice, and mercy. Grant that they may be enabled by Your powerful protection to lead our Country with honesty and integrity. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

During the month of

NOVEMBER

the Church remembers her “loved ones” who have been called back to the Lord.

PRAYER FOR THE SOULS IN PURGATORY

Father, God of all consolation, in Your unending love and mercy for us You turn the darkness of death into the dawn of new life. Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, we ask You to deliver the souls in Purgatory, especially those for whom we now pray... (mention them here) Welcome them into Your presence and bless them with eternal light and peace. Raise them up to live for ever with all Your saints in the glory of the Resurrection. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

VETERANS DAY

Monday, November 11

May we remember that the freedoms we enjoy in our most gracious home, the United States of America, did not come without a price. On Veterans Day, we recognize, thank, and pray for the heroes among us. They are the men and women who served in our Armed Forces. They are the veterans of the United States Military.

Dear Lord, today we honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their Country. We pray that You will bless them, Lord, for their unselfish service. We humbly ask Your protection for all the men and women currently in our Military. Strengthen them and guide them, O Lord, that they may return home in safety. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

News and More...
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!
St. Joseph Food Pantry THANKSGIVING Request. Our Food Pantry distributes approximately 150 turkeys and all the trimmings to the Carteret community so that all can have a proper Thanksgiving meal.

Stuffing mix, yams, and brownie mix are needed to help them in preparing the Thanksgiving Baskets for distribution.

You may place your donations in the Food Pantry Barrel located in the Narthex. If you wish to make a monetary donation, you may place your donation in an envelope marked Food Pantry and place it in the collection basket.

Thank you for your support!

RCIA Classes
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a process for anyone who is interested in becoming a member of the Catholic Church, or who seeks to come into full communion with the faith community. It is especially tailored to those who:

– Have never been baptized

– Have been baptized Catholic but have not received the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, or Confirmation

– Are baptized Christians and would like to come into full communion with the Catholic Church

– Have no Church to call their own

If you are interested in acquiring more information about the RCIA process or if you know adults in your family, neighborhood, or workplace who may be interested in this process, please call Marcelle Doherty at the RCIA Office, at 732-969-8767.

24 HOUR PRAYER LINE
Our Diocesan Office for Persons with Disabilities has a 24 hour prayer line for those who desire prayer for special needs.

If you, a family member or friend would like to be remembered in prayer for a temporary or permanent illness, please call and leave a detailed message at 732-765-6431 or email catholicswithdisabilities@gmail.com.

PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS
If you have requested a Mass to be celebrated for your intention and would like to present the gifts that will become the Body and Blood of Christ at that Mass, please inform one of the ushers before Mass; otherwise, they will ask someone from the congregation to present the gifts. Thank you.
Baptism Sponsor and Godparent Guidelines
In accordance with Canon (Church) Law, at least one godparent who is of the Catholic faith, is required at Baptism.

Normally there are two and must be of different genders. The godparent(s) must be at least fourteen (14) years of age and must have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.

Each godparent is required to submit a certificate of eligibility from his/her own parish. The certificate must state that the sponsor is a Catholic in good standing, who attends Mass regularly, and, if married, is in a valid marriage recognized by the Catholic Church. An individual married civilly by a judge, or a mayor, or divorced and remarried without an annulment is not eligible to act as a godparent.

In the absence of a second godparent, a non-Catholic Christian (never a former Catholic) may serve as a Christian witness. A copy of his/her baptismal record must be submitted beforehand.

Please help us help you. We are only able to provide you with a sponsor certificate if you are an active, registered member of our Parish, attend Mass regularly, and meet all the guidelines. Please be sure to register if you have not already done so.

PARISH MEMBERSHIP
Are you registered in St. Joseph Parish? All Catholics should be registered in a Parish so that the Parish may know you and your family and so be able to serve you better.

Registration is your statement that you belong to a particular faith community where you are known, your faith is strengthened, and your relationship with God is nourished and given expression.

When you are registered, actively involved, and a Catholic in good standing, the Parish is able to provide you with testimonial certificates to be a sponsor for Baptism and/or Confirmation. Your registration information is strictly confidential and never in any way becomes a public record.

If you have not already registered in the Parish, please stop by the Parish Office and take the time to do so. Thank you.
