Spring is in the air, finally! With Easter quickly approaching we have been talking about Lent and the significance behind it. Between our weekly visits to the chapel and working with the entire middle school to present the Living Stations we have truly been able to feel the meaning behind this season.
On the academic front the sixth grade has been working hard. In Social Studies we are learning the cultures of Ancient Rome and their contributions to the modern world. As we continue through our journey in Rome we will find many connections to our faith. In Science we have been exploring volcanoes, kaboom!! This has taught us that many landforms and practically entire states have been formed by volcanic eruptions. After break we will be starting a new Science book about water and the atmosphere.
The seventh grade is quickly approaching the Civil War. We have learned about the differences between the North and South and how they are causing a separation between the two sections. Taking an in depth look at the differences between the two areas will show us that it wasn’t just slavery that caused the rift between them. In Science we are just finishing up the human body. After break we will jump into cells and heredity.
The eighth grade is about to enter the civil rights era. We will start the chapter watching the trailer from Selma, a very impactful short preview of what life was like at this time. We have been looking at how different life was from what we are used to . In Science our next book will bring us on an exploration of sound and light.
With the end of the third marking period remember the fourth marking period is just as important as the first. Hope everyone has a Blessed Easter and a relaxing break. As always feel free to contact me with any questions
Final payment for 8th grade fees is due April 30
